Founded in 2015, Alyx is the newest streetwear brand by tastemaker, Matthew Williams. Matthew Williams has become infamous for his work with Hood by Air, Supreme, Stussy and Been Trill before Alyx. With Alyx, the designer is all about contrasts, feminine vs the boyish, New York City vs California and Street style vs Italian craftsmanship for his women’s collections. 1017 refers to William’s birthdate, October 17, while 9SM refers to number 9 St. Mark’s Place in NYC, where the studio was founded.
London street culture and the zeitgeist of Britain's working class, Samuel Ross launched A-Cold-Wall* in the fall of 2015 to reflect hegemonic disparities and youth expression in contemporary fashion. The directional aesthetic of Ross' men’s ready-to-wear line is informed by his studies in both graphic design and illustration, and creative work alongside Off-White's Virgil Abloh.
